Tutoring...

For a few weeks this summer, Levi and Ewan have been meeting with Tabea for some German tutoring. They having been doing a great job and we are proud of their progress. :) Thanks Tabea!

Another ER Adventure...

Monday evening we were all set to celebrate Memoo's last night in Vienna. We were going to go get ice cream, and the kiddos wanted to ride their scooters. As Abby was opening hers, her hand got pinched in the metal frame and with one look, I knew we would be headed to the ER for stitches.

I have learned a lot about the healthcare system since being in Austria-and if you are living here and have questions...I may be able to be of some help...only because we have had to learn the hard way. Let's just say that the healthcare system here is very specialized.

So on Monday, I thought we were making the right decision by taking Abby to the Children's Hospital...thinking that if a child is injured...one would go to the hospital for kids. Wrong...

One must go to an "accident" hospital for something like this...and so we were redirected accordingly.

Overall, the experience wasn't too bad and Abby had a very nice Dr. who stitched her up and made her feel very at ease. For that we were very thankful. In the picture below she is even smiling...

Tying up loose ends...

English camp ended well, with many of the kids returning Friday evening for a performance. The parents were so appreciative for the camp and all of the hard work the interns did! Some of the kids brought chocolates, and others brought flowers and wine to show their appreciation. Many asked if we would have the camp again next year, and some of the families said they were interested in learning more about what our church is all about. In a few weeks, we are going to have a family game night to follow up with those who participated in the camp. It was a lot of work, but also a lot of fun!

On Saturday, we celebrated Kelly's birthday with a Raclette dinner and some brownies...

MeMoo arrived this morning and we have spent the day trying to find places to put all of the goodies she brought with her from America! We certainly think that is a good problem to have. Tomorrow, we are leaving for a retreat with our interns in the western part of Austria...certainly never a dull moment around here. I will catch you up again in a few days :)

Day 3-English Camp

The camp starts at 8:30 and runs until 5pm. The day is sort of broken up into 3 parts. The morning has most of the English instruction, then we break for lunch and then the afternoon is spent playing games and going to the park.

The older group is referred to as the "sharks" and the younger group are the "minnows". Sometimes they do activities together, but most of the time they are separated. Today they discussed body parts and some of the miracles Jesus performed. (healing the blind and the lame) Everyone is doing a great job and we all are having fun...aside from being very hot (yesterday was 92 and remember we don't have air conditioning!!!)

Here is Liesl performing Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes...

Here are the sharks working on a song...

Bethany is reviewing body parts...

Here Tristan is getting traced...

Abby is coloring herself in...

We celebrated Matthias' 5th Birthday...

English Camp-Day 2

Each morning begins with "boarding an airplane" to America, so we can learn English. Brad is the pilot and Jeff, the co-pilot. There is always a funny skit between the two of them, with Jeff always forgetting his co-pilot's jacket...hence the silly outfits. The kids really get a kick out of them! Today the kids focused on learning about animals and the Bible story of Noah and the Ark. There is plenty of laughing, dancing, playing, crafting and learning going on!

English Camp-Day 1

This is our friend Christopher. He came home with us after English camp and immediately passed out because he was so tired. I think that is a good indication that our first day was a success! :)

Here are a few more photos of our first day...

Girls' Night

The girls' have worked really hard at getting our facility ready for our English camp, which begins on Monday. Everything is finally coming together and it is exciting to see! We couldn't have done it without the help of our interns...so we are very grateful!

Last night we took a little time off of work...to just have some fun! We ate dinner at Vapiano's, listened to a concert in the Museums Quartier and then headed to the Sacher Hotel for dessert! If you want to see more photos, then go HERE

"Vogel Hochzeit"...

Abby at her " Vogelhochzeit" from brad and stacey hunter on Vimeo.

I am still trying to catch up posting pictures and videos from Luke and Abby's end of the year programs. Here is some video of Abby's solo from the "Bird Wedding". She did a great job and after she was finished she realized she had gum in her mouth and needed to get rid of it, so she proceeded to walk off the stage and hand it to me... :)

Rain, Rain went away-but only for a day

This summer has certainly had its share of rain. Fortunately, the sun came out a little on Saturday and a little today. Both times we took off for the pool...

This pool has the largest waterslide in Vienna...

Another view...

Sun-kissed kiddos...

This afternoon, we made it just in time to a different pool with some friends...

Unfortunately the rain came again-so here are the kiddos finding shelter under a blanket as we walked to the car...

Hopefully the sun will appear again soon;)

Our Fourth...

We spent most of our day poolside enjoying the sun and then came home and indulged in all of the foods that are expected on the 4th... watermelon, corn on the cob, baked beans, grilled hamburgers and even a few Doritos! (brought over to Austria by our interns with love) We followed our feast with a little lesson on the "Declaration of Independence".

Hope you are enjoying your 4th too!
